Lower Rhytidectomy | Neck Lift

Is your neck starting to show signs of aging with crepey or visibly loose skin? Neck lifts are one of the most effective ways to remove signs of aging and restore youthful, vibrant skin.

Dr. Tantawi performs the procedure by removing excess fat and tightening muscles in your neck area. This helps reduce sagging skin that can make you look older than you really are. It’s also great if you have been living with double chins, or loose jowls, because it tightens up your jawline as well.

A neck lift can be combined with a face lift ensuring that your overall appearance looks even and revitalized. Dr. Tantawi is board certified in surgery and cosmetic surgery and wants to help you achieve your aesthetic goals, and have the look you want and deserve. What is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift can reduce sagging in your neck and chin, and restore it to a more youthful appearance. The neck lift procedure may be performed alone, or in combination with a facelift, eyelid surgery, browlift, or other facial procedures.

It can also improve drooping neck muscles and loose skin of the neck and chin, without compromising the jawline. A neck lift can diminish deep lines that appear from heavy use of certain muscles, such as the frontalis muscle which raises the eyebrows, and prevent “turkey gobbler” deformity caused by excess skin on, or under part of the neck.

Why Get a Neck Lift?

A neck lift can provide better contouring of your neckline while maintaining natural facial features. A neck lift may be recommended if you:

  •  Have neck sagging.
  •  Have neck muscle laxity.
  •  You want to improve your neckline.
  •  Your clothing doesn’t fit right because of neck issues.
  •  Have visible neck veins.
  •  Have excess neck skin.
  •  Have neck wrinkles that you would like to improve.
  • Have undergone bariatric surgery that has left you with excessive loose skin.
  •  Are unhappy with neck fat deposits that make your neck area appear bulky, or shapeless.
  •  Have neck creases that bother you.

For many neck lift candidates, the neck lift procedure is combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures, to help create an overall more youthful appearance. For example, neck lift surgery may be performed along with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), face lift surgery (rhytidectomy),or brow lift surgery to achieve a more beautiful look.

What are the Benefits of a Neck Lift?

The main benefit of necklift surgery is to reduce loose skin and neck wrinkles. The second benefit of this cosmetic procedure is to improve the contour along your jawline, which often tends to become less defined as you age. There may be a third benefit of a neck lift as well: It can enhance the distribution of submental fa , which makes your neck look fuller.

How is a Neck Lift Procedure Performed?

There are many types of neck lifts. Dr. Tantawi will discuss which procedure is best for your situation at your consultation. The two most common procedures are: traditional neck lift and limited neck lift. Both are done under general anesthesia, or drip IV sedation and can take anywhere from 2-4 hours. In addition a neck lift procedure may include liposuction, kybella injections, botox injections, and/or laser treatment of certain areas.

Traditional Neck Lift

With a traditional neck lift Dr. Tantawi will make an incision behind your ear down to the crease in your neck and around to the back of your hairline. Fat may be sculpted or moved from the jowls and neck. Liposuction may be done in this area depending upon the level of fat in that area. He will then reposition the tissue and tighten the neck muscle (platysma muscle). Skin is then draped over the incision line and excess skin is trimmed away. Sometimes he will make a small incision at the bottom of your chin and liposuction is done to repair the muscle. He will finish using skin adhesive and sutures to close your incisions

Limited Neck Lift

With a limited neck lift, Dr. Tantawi will make small incisions behind your ears and one under your chin, Liposuction is done and your neck muscle is tightened. He will then close the incisions using skin adhesive or sutures. Dr. Tantawi has made it his specialty to perfect this procedure so that there is very minimal or no visible scarring.
