Dermal Fillers | Injectables

Dermal Fillers (or injectables) are products that are used in facial contouring by softening wrinkles, elevating depression in the skin, and restoring fullness to areas of the face, or thinning lips. They work by adding volume to the specific area of injection, thus creating a plumper, more radiant look. As you age, your body produces less and less of the proteins that keep skin looking young. Dermal fillers help to replace these proteins, giving your skin a more youthful, and glowing appearance.

If you desire to improve or maintain your features without surgery, injectables give dramatic results with no downtime and less cost. At Beauty Refined Plastic Surgery Center, Dr. Tantawi offers a wide array of the best FDA approved fillers and injectables available on the market today including, Botox®, Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Radiesse®, Sculptra®, Versa®, and Kybella® . What are the benefits of dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers offer a wide range of benefits that can improve your appearance, and self-confidence. Most, but not all dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a natural substance present in the skin and body. With aging, exposure to sun, and other factors, HA begins to decline. Dermal filler treatments can restore volume to your skin. Some common benefits include:

  • Correction of wrinkles and lines
  • Restoration of lost volume
  • Lip enhancement
  • Cheek enhancement
  • Treatment of acne scars
  • Can diminish a double chin
  • Treatment of dark circles under the eyes

How are dermal fillers administered?

The procedure is relatively simple, and only takes a few minutes. The area to be treated is cleansed and numbed, with a topical anesthetic. The filler is then injected into the skin, and the process is repeated for all areas to be treated. Many dermal fillers are made of naturally occurring materials like collagen or hyaluronic acid (HA). They can be dissolved by your body over time, usually 6 months or less.

Other fillers last longer, and need to be eventually replaced as they dissolve. The duration of effect depends on the product that is used and can vary from one person to another.

Dermal fillers are produced in a variety of formulations; one formulation may be better suited for your needs than another. Discussing your concerns with Dr. Tantawi, will help determine which dermal filler will provide you with the results you want.

Botox®

Botox® is a neurotoxin that is used to treat a variety of medical conditions. The most common is its use in cosmetic procedures, to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Botox is different from a dermal filler, as it works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles, which results in temporary paralysis of those muscles. By minimizing the repeated contraction of muscles, the skin is less likely to form wrinkles. This reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and other signs of aging.

Sculptra®

Dr. Tantawi uses Sculptra® for the liquid facelift, and butt lift, and is highly skilled, having done many successful procedures with Sculptra®. You will love the long lasting results, and his attention to detail in getting a more youthful look without surgery.

Sculptra® is a type of dermal filler that is made from poly-L-lactic acid. It’s FDA approved, and helps to hydrate the skin and stimulate collagen, which begins to diminish as you age. The best results appear after about 3-4 treatments, which is the reason why people like it better than other dermal fillers. It doesn’t require any allergy test and has no side effects such as pain or bleeding at the injection site.

One of the main differences between sculptra® and other dermal fillers, is that it is not a temporary treatment. The effects can last for up to two years, with maintenance requiring only one treatment a year.

Sculptra® Facelift Procedure

Sculptra® can be used to treat deep facial hollowing caused by aging. The acid is a biodegradable material that is gradually absorbed by the body. It’s used to fill in wrinkles and folds in the skin, restoring a smoother, younger looking face.

The Sculptra® facelift procedure takes approximately one hour. First, Dr.Tantawi will clean the injection site, apply a topical anesthetic, and then inject the Sculptra® into small areas around your temple, cheeks, chin, and neck. He will then use the same points of injection for another round of injections, to ensure even distribution throughout your face. A third round is not necessarily required, but may be recommended.

If you have lost volume in your face through aging,or lost weight, Sculptra® can make you look fabulous again. It can also be used to keep volume in the face for individuals who are experiencing gradual loss.

While this treatment is not effective if you have lost all of your collagen, it is also not recommended if you are very young, since you are still producing plenty of natural collagen. If you are currently taking blood thinners, or anticoagulants you should talk with Dr. Tantawi, before scheduling a treatment session.

The Sculptra® procedure is extremely safe and side effects are minimal. You may experience redness, flaking, bruising, dryness, or itching at the site of injection. In most cases, these side effects can be soothed with topical medications, such as aloe vera, or hydrocortisone cream.

Sculptra® Butt Lift

A sculptra butt lift is an easier and more cost effective way of getting curvier, rounder buttocks. Because it hydrates and stimulates volume, it isn’t immediately noticeable. It may take several months, and more than one round of injections. However if you have lost volume due to aging or pregnancy, sculptra can be a safe, and painless choice for having a perkier butt.

For the Sculptra procedure you will lay on your stomach and the injection site will be cleaned. A topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the area. The injections will be administered and you may have a bandage applied to the injection site. Dr, Tantawi will give you instructions as to how to care for yourself. Strenuous exercise, and alcohol use is to be avoided for 2-3 days, but you will be able to drive home after the procedure.

Kybella®

Kybella® is an injectable that is used in the treatment of fat below the chin, sometimes called a “double chin”. It works by permanently destroying fat cells, and gradually improving your profile without surgery. Kybella® works best for you if you have moderate fat under your chin. If you have excess skin or loose folds of skin under your chin or neck, a different procedure is considered.

If you would like smoother, plumper, more youthful looking skin, but don’t want invasive surgery — injectables are a safe, less expensive way to brighten up your presence. Dr. Tantawi will be happy to discuss what can be done to restore your skin and answer any questions you may have about dermal fillers. Why wait?
