Hair Removal Procedure
Before your appointment you will be asked to avoid waxing or plucking in the area you are wanting permanent removal from for 4-6 weeks. This is so the light from the laser can target the hair root easily. You will be placed in a private, sanitized room. The area to be treated will be cleansed and a numbing cream may be applied to your skin. You will be given eye protection to wear to avoid any damage to your eyes during the treatment.
Dr. Tantawi, or one of his professional technicians will set the laser controls according to the thickness, color and location of the skin. The laser will be passed back and forth over the skin.
The laser emits a pulsating light that targets the hair follicle. You may feel slight discomfort, somewhat like being snapped lightly with a rubber band. After the treatment, a cooling gel and anti-inflammatory cream is applied, to prevent swelling and ease any discomfort you might feel. It is important to wear sunscreen on any areas that have been treated.
Hair follicles can take a few days to a week to shed after the treatment. It will take multiple sessions done 4-6 weeks apart to have the best results. You may also need to have a few sessions over the course of a year to curb regrowth.
